On February 29, the SSU students, as part of the delegation from Saratov Region, arrived at Krasnodar Krai on the federal territory of Sirius to participate in the World Youth Festival. More than 20 thousand people from more than 180 countries have come to the event.
About 30 activists of Saratov State University became guests of the largest youth event in the world. In total, 162 participants are representing our region. From March 1 to March 7, lots of events are to be organised for aspiring leaders from all over the world.
The Sirius guests from all over the world will enjoy both training and entertainment programmes. The best creative teams prepare performances for young people. The SSU students will participate in exciting workshops, discussions, as well as panel and training sessions. Evening programmes will bring together participants at concerts and talk shows with famous people from different spheres.
The Saratov State University activists have passed a difficult selection to become the participants of the festival. The candidates proved themselves in six stages, including making a portfolio, writing an essay, and shooting a video. In addition, social activities of the year were taken into account: thus, the organisers selected the best of the best.
On Thursday, February 29, the first events of the festival started: exhibitions, excursions, lectures, and contests from the partners. On Friday, the participants will have a variety of events on various topics to choose from. For example, at 2 p.m. at the same time, there will be held at different venues the Russia for Your Own Taste gastronomic festival and a talk show on the topic of robotisation of the future labour market.
The eventful programme will continue over the weekend. A famous figure skater Ilya Averbukh has created a grandiose ice show with the participation of Olympic champions – the show will take place on Saturday. On Sunday, the activists will see a show from the Games of the Future, a digital competition with professional racers. At the Knowledge. The First federal educational marathon more than 100 lecturers will speak. About 500 professional athletes will exercise every morning for all the participants, as well as take part in tournaments.
On March 2, at 4 p.m., a key event will take place – the opening ceremony of the World Youth Festival. The guests will see a bright show consisting of dancing, music, and choral episodes with performers from different countries.
A group of international students from SSU also went to the festival. Molina Mansilla Juan Sebastian, a graduate student of the Institute of Philology and Journalism, a student from Colombia, told us how he had managed to become one of the participants. ‘I was interested in the festival back in July. I read about it and decided to register. An important stage was the publication of a video about myself. There, I said that I would like to share with the participants of the festival the emotional stability that the international students of our university have. At Sirius, I will be able to prove myself and tell the delegations from the regions of Russia about the culture of Latin Americans.’
As part of the festival, the City of Youth of the World was built in Olympic Park. It is here that all educational, cultural, scientific, and sports meetings will be held.
The festival welcomes 20,000 Russian and international young leaders in business, media, international cooperation, culture, science, education, volunteering, charity, sports, and various spheres of public life.
