Today, Professor, Chair of the Department of Physical Chemistry, SSU, Honourary Worker of Higher Professional Education of Russia, Honoured Worker of Higher Education, Editor-in-Chief of the Electrochemical Energetics journal Ivan Kazarinov is celebrating his 75th anniversary.
He was born on September 15, 1948 in Kursk Region. After graduating from high school in 1966, he entered the Faculty of Chemistry, Saratov State University, from which he graduated with honours in 1971. Since his student years, he has been enthusiastically engaged in research at the Department of Physical Chemistry supervised by Associate Professor Lidia Lvova. From 1971 to 1980, Ivan Kazarinov worked at the Research Institute of Chemistry, SSU, firstly, as an engineer, then as a senior engineer and a senior researcher.
After defending his PhD thesis, he worked at the Department of Physical Chemistry (as an assistant (1980), senior lecturer (1983), and associate professor (1984)). Since 1993, Ivan Kazarinov has been working at the department as a professor, and from 1999 to the present – as the chair of the Department of Physical Chemistry.
Ivan Kazarinov is a well-known scientist both in our country and abroad in theoretical and applied electrochemistry. He played a big role in the development of the Saratov Electrochemical Scientific School, which was founded by Associate Professor Aleksei Fortunatov and Professor Arlen Lvov.
The scientific community has repeatedly noted the high scientific level of research conducted by Professor Kazarinov’s students and postgraduates.
He was appointed Executive Secretary of the Central Admissions Committee, SSU (1983-1987, 1995) many times, was elected Dean of the Faculty of Chemistry (1995-2000), was SSU First Vice-Rector (1999-2001), and Vice-Rector for Research, SSU (2003-2004).
Ivan Kazarinov has supervised fifteen candidate and three doctoral dissertations. He is the author of more than 250 research papers, including four monographies. He has received seven copyright certificates and patents for inventions. The professor teaches basic general and special courses in physical chemistry. Also, he has prepared eight textbooks.
According to his scientific level, outlook, inner culture, ability to communicate with students, postgraduates, ad colleagues, Ivan Kazarinov is an example of a real university professor. His exceptional efficiency, extraordinary wit, and dedication to his favourite profession are amazing.
