SSU Rector Aleksei Chumachenko and staff members of the Faculty of Psychological, Pedagogical, and Special Needs Education and the Institute of Philology and Journalism has taken part in the 2nd All-Russian Forum entitled Pedagogical Education at Russian Classical University. It was as part of the events held by the Russian Academy of Education complex and dedicated to the Year of Teachers and Mentors.

The event, held in Moscow from March 21 to 22, is timed to coincide with two round dates at once – the 80th anniversary of the Russian Academy of Education and the 200th anniversary of the birth of the founder of Russian scientific pedagogy K.D. Ushinsky. The organizers of the All-Russian forum were the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation and the Russian Academy of Education.

The plenary session was opened by the President of RAO O.Y. Vasilyeva, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education D.V. Afanasyev, Scientific Director of the Center for the Development of Pedagogical Education of RAO E.I. Kazakova.

The participants of the major event were representatives of relevant federal executive authorities, rectors of Russian classical and pedagogical universities, heads of research centers and innovation sites of the RAO, teachers and lecturers. There was also a place for young researchers who work in the field of education sciences at the forum.

The delegation from Saratov University, headed by Rector Aleksei Chumachenko, included Dean of the Faculty of Psychological, Pedagogical, and Special Needs Education Tatyana Firsova, Chair of the Department of Education Methodology Ekaterina Alexandrova, and Chair of the Corporate Department of Russian Philology and Media Education Olga Dmitriyeva. Each of them took an active part in the work of sections and discussion platforms.

As a member of the Scientific Council on Education of the Department of Philosophy, E.A. Alexandrova made a report. Ekaterina Alexandrovna spoke about modern forms of motivation and self-determination of young people in the teaching profession. With the help of her speech, she outlined the problem of the pedagogical mission of Russian classical universities.

The main task of the forum was to develop the main vectors of the development of pedagogical education, as well as to prepare proposals in the field of the development of pedagogical science and pedagogical personnel for the education system. The formation of these proposals took place on discussion platforms. Thus, O.I. Dmitrieva took part in the discussion within the section "The role of classical universities in teacher training for regional educational systems". Olga Ivanovna spoke about the system of pedagogical education that has developed in SSU, about its special place within the framework of the Priority 2030 program and different formats of pedagogical interaction between the university and the region, outlined the place and role of the school's basic department in the structure of the classical university.

The forum hosted a debate of young scientists "Pedagogical science in the mirror of the future". T.G. Firsova also joined the discussion of personal and professional qualities that are necessary for a modern teacher. During the debate, attention was paid to an urgent topic that arose against the background of the active development of neural networks and other IT technologies. The participants shared their assumptions about the confrontation between the teacher and artificial intelligence and tried to find an answer to the question: "Which of them will win?".

"I was most interested in discussing strategies for advanced teacher training. This intersects with the work of our university within the framework of a virtual pedagogical class, the "School of an applicant-teacher of SSU", which will open its doors on March 24 during the scientific and educational festival "Week of Pedagogical Education". Advanced teacher training is an excellent form of popularization of the teaching profession," said T.G. Firsova, Dean of the Faculty of the PPiSO.

As part of the second day of the forum, A.N. Chumachenko participated in the meeting of heads of higher education organizations "Key priorities for the development of teacher education at the Russian University". After the break, an open meeting of the FUMO working group on higher pedagogical education "FGOS 4.0" was held under the chairmanship of E.I. Kazakova. O.I. Dmitrieva and T.G. Firsova took part in the discussion of issues related to the transition to a specialty, the structure and specifics of the master's degree, the forms of final certification.

"Listening to colleagues from other regions, we were once again convinced of what a good university we have! We do everything that other universities do. But SSU also has something that no higher education institution has, and this is a very big plus for us. I am proud that I work at Saratov University," E.A. Alexandrova summed up her impression of the forum.
