On November 23, a meeting of the Academic Council of the Russian Geographical Society was held at the Moscow Headquarters of the Russian Geographical Society. The meeting was attended by Rector of Saratov University, a member of the Presidium of the Academic Council of the Russian Geographical Society Aleksei Chumachenko.

The main task of the meeting, which took place in on- and off-site, was to discuss the applications received for 2023 RGS grants. Each of the permanent commissions of the company presented its projects. As a result of the discussion, the members of the Academic Council decided to recommend the submitted projects for approval by the RGS Expert Commission.

They discussed such projects as The cross-border cooperation preserve the snow leopard and its ecosystems on the Sailugem Ridge. Monitoring of the largest snow leopard habitat in Russia in the Altai Republic, the development of the tourist route of the RGS titled The Great Caucasian Trail, The traditional culture of Russian villages of the Republic of Tatarstan, The medical and geographical Atlas of Russia titled The Risk Factors of Oncological Diseases, and many others.

The meeting ended with a bright event – the presentation of the certificate of Honourary Member of the Geographical Society of China to the Honorary President of the Russian Geographical Society, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Vladimir Kotlyakov.
