On October 13, a training session of the CONSILIUM SSU Centre for Support of Young Teachers of Saratov Region took place at the venue of Gymnasium No. 7. 70 teachers became its listeners.
The gymnasium principal Irina Orlova welcomed the young colleagues and wished them effective work. ‘I hope that during the year we will meet at our educational institution, you will get an extraordinary experience, attend interesting lectures, and learn about practical methods from our consultants.’
The Head of Priority Projects and Programmes Elena Yelina spoke how we were implementing the Priority 2030 federal programme at the university, of which the CONSILIUM project also became a part.
‘The main points of our programme are related to research. One of the strategic projects – The Teacher in the Educational Paradigm – is aimed to work with schoolchildren at the Pedagogical Classroom and support young teachers of the region. The administration of Volga District and the management of Gymnasium No. 7 support us in working with young teachers. This year, the programme will be completely different from what you found out at the previous one. New lecturers will work, seminars and master classes will be held. Due to all this you will be able to improve your pedagogical skills and learn how to work in a team,’ she assured the participants.
Elena Yelina said that in August 2022, the Summer school for Young Teachers was held at SSU for the first time, where they talked about the adaptation of young teachers to the school team and learned how to communicate with parents and children.
The details of the pedagogical networking were revealed by Senior Lecturer of the Department of Russian Philology and Media Education, Deputy Head of the Office of Social Work Marina Kabanova. ‘It is nice to see the faces who were with us during all four days of the School. Our task was to introduce teachers from different schools and cities, uniting them with a common topic, so that in the future they could use this connection for their professional purposes. The programme was full of events. According to the results of the School, 81 teachers received graduation certificates.’
The lecture on school class psychology for the participants of the meeting was conducted by Chair of the Department of Social Psychology of Education and Development Rail Shamionov.
‘The school class is developing, it is formed by social activity, communication, the environment where relationships exist. The children's collective consists of various personalities with their own motivation, attitudes, character traits, needs and desires,’ he explained.
It is thanks to the group, according to him, that the pupil’s self-fulfilment occurs, the ability to take responsibility for one’s actions is formed. The group provides social support, educates, trains, and sets up a positive mood.
An important point is also the differentiation of group members, where the leader is identified and the majority influences the minority and the reverse process occurs.
Julia Nikishina, Senior Lecturer at the Regional Centre for Practical Psychology and Intelligent Education, SRIED, touched upon such an important topic as the psychological health of a young teacher and the risks of professional burnout. According to the speaker, it is important for a teacher to master the techniques of self-regulation. This can be helped by exercises that allow you to constructively cope with stress. The participants of the lesson were able to test for themselves the effectiveness of techniques for relieving body tension.
The audience was very interested in the lectures, teachers asked interesting questions and shared their opinions.
The organiser of the site is Saratov University together with Saratov Gymnasium No. 7 and Saratov Regional Institute of Education Development.
The next lesson will be held on November 24.
