On June 12, residents of the city came out for a solemn procession dedicated to Russia Day. The organiser was the regional branch of the Combat Brotherhood All-Russian public organisation. The march from the Children's World to the monument to P.A. Stolypin was attended by public and volunteer organisations of the city, students, as well as residents of the city.

From Saratov State University, 30 students of various structural units came out for the solemn procession – the Institute of Philology and Journalism, the Faculty of Mathematics and Mechanics, the Faculty of Economics, and the Faculty of Law, as well as representatives of the Council of Undergraduates and Postgraduates and members of the Staff of the RSB. The students carried the flags of the SSU along the route and took part in the deployment of a large state flag at Theatre Square.

Head of the Department of Patriotic Education and Preventive Work, SSU, Julia Ilyashenko spoke about the importance of such events in the organisational work of the university. ‘Russia Day is a holiday for every citizen. On this day, we can show the unity of our people. Due to such events, patriotic feelings strengthen in us. Our students proudly have walked with the flags of their alma mater and sang famous patriotic songs of famous artists.’

The column marched along Stolypin Avenue, singing inspiring songs and alternately greeting representatives of various organisations. The procession stopped to lay flowers at the monument to a reformer Pyotr Stolypin. An honorary citizen of Saratov and a member of the Combat Brotherhood, Colonel Oleg Sergienko, made a welcoming speech there. ‘Representatives of different generations have gathered here: participants in hostilities, military personnel, youth organisations, and volunteers. The continuity of generations is the unity of our country, this is our strength.’

The residents of the city were greeted by Chair of the Public Chamber of Saratov Region Boris Shinchuk, a member of the Public Council under the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation, a veteran of military operations in the North Caucasus Vyacheslav Kalinin, Chair of the regional branch of the Movement of the First All-Russian public state youth movement in Saratov Region Anna Popova, and the commander of the volunteer squad of the Combat Brotherhood of Saratov Region Mikhail Segeda.

Vyacheslav Kalinin presented the membership cards of the Combat Brotherhood to the participants and veterans of military operations. The procession ended at Theatre Square, where a sixty-meter flag of Russia was unfurled to the sounds of the national anthem.
