‘... You will have to be born a teacher

and only after that you will have to become one.

There will be a talented and audacious wisdom in it,

He will carry the sun on his wing.

Teacher is a long-range profession,

Home on Earth!’ Robert Rozhdestvensky’s lines sounded from the stage and set the tone for the event.

Hundreds of events dedicated to the Year of Teachers and Mentors took place in Saratov Region, many of them were held at Saratov State University. The aim of the year was to show that today the teaching profession is one of the most important and in demand in the country.

Minister of Education of Russia Sergei Kravtsov addressed his colleagues with a video message. ‘This year was dedicated to representatives of the most important profession – teachers. More than 7 thousand pedagogical events at the regional and federal levels took place across the country, which were attended by over 17 thousand people. Our main task was to emphasize the prestige of the teaching profession, to increase its importance in the eyes of the public. We have implemented more than 100 incentive payments for teaching staff and have established excellent traditions, such as the Thanks to the Teacher All-Russian project.’

As noted by Deputy Prime Minister of Saratov Region – Minister of Education of Saratov Region Mikhail Orlov, large-scale projects and programs have been implemented this year, the infrastructure of educational organizations has been improved, new measures have been approved to support teachers, including incentives for professional competitions.

‘For us, teachers are not only university and school teachers, they are also employees of sections, playgrounds, clubs, libraries. Today, we are summing up the results of the year, but for our region the Year of Teachers continues, and ahead of us lies the All-Russian stage of the Teacher of the Year competition, which will be held in our region. Surely, we will only change education for the better and achieve high results in our joint work,’ the minister noted.

Mikhail Orlov stressed that it was difficult to find a better place to complete the Year of Teachers and Mentors than Saratov State University. The university is the main forge of teaching staff for the region.

The closing ceremony was attended by Nadezhda Boos, Deputy Director of the Department of State Policy in Education, Additional Education, and Children's Recreation of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation. She continued the idea of the educator's educational mission. According to her, any lesson, lesson, section carries elements of an educational nature. ‘After your parents, you are the people who are responsible for the moral and spiritual development of the younger generation, its civic position and correct life orientations,’ Nadezhda Boos addressed the teachers.

Oleg Yankovskii, the winner of the 2023 Teacher of the Year of Russia All-Russian competition, a graduate of SSU, a teacher of Russian language and literature at the school at the Russian Embassy in Tehran, sent an online greeting in which he remembered his mentors. The key place among them is assigned to Professor Yurii Kadkalov. ‘Olga Ivanovna Dmitriyeva, Larisa Vladimirovna Zimina, Marina Igorevna Kabanova, and many other university teaching staff members became worthy successors of Yuri Grigorievich's work. In the process of my training, these people tried to highlight my strengths in any way, which is what a mentor should do in relation to his pupil,’ Oleg Yankovskii shared his memories.

Creative performances were given by teachers – winners of professional competitions in 2023, advisers to school principals on education, representatives of pedagogical dynasties, young artists of the region.
