Learn about Pedagogical Dynasties in Series of Articles on SSU Website

In honour of the Year of Teachers and Mentors in the Research City on the SSU website, we started a series of articles about the pedagogical dynasties of Saratov State University.

SSU is famous for talented professors and scientists, and the love of science is shared with other generation of the family. It is about this approach in the families of teaching staff that the SSU journalists write about. The university teaching staff themselves are happy to share warm and touching stories about their lives.

Victor Totfalushin, Associate Professor of the Department of Russian History and Archaeology, the Institute of History and International Relations, has been associated with Saratov State University for almost half a century. He met his future wife at the university, and both his daughters studied here. Almost 45 years of continuous service as a teaching staff member have also played a role for his nearest and dearest. In the True-Born Teachers article, Associate Professor of the Department of Special Needs Education, the Faculty of Psychological, Pedagogical, and Special Needs Education, Lyudmila Myasnikova told us about how she, her mother, sister, and son have engaged themselves in teaching. Lyudmila Myasnikova has been working at Saratov Boarding School for Blind and Visually Impaired Children for 38 years. She is interested in early special needs care for children with visual impairments and their families.

The Sincere Love for Sports article presents the fate of the Shpitalnyi dynasty. Associate Professor of the Department of Sports Games, the Institute of Sports and Physical Training, Evgenia Shpitalnaya shared the story how her son and grandson had become professional Saratov football players, and her daughter had got a job at the university.

Chair of the Department of Special Needs Education, the Faculty of Psychological, Pedagogical, and Special Needs Education, Julia Selivanova in the Special Teachers for “Special” Children articles shared he secret how she adopted the experience of her parents and continued the pedagogical dynasty.

Another article, From Physics to Psychology, is dedicated to the pedagogical dynasty of the Ponukalins. It has three generations of physicists, psychologists, and sociologists. It is curious that many of them started their way at the Faculty of Physics, SSU. In the article, Associate Professor of the Department of Social Psychology, the Faculty of Psychology, Aleksei Ponukalin Jr. recalled the history of his family.
