SSU students won “Breakthrough of the Year” and “Volunteer of the Year” competitions

Award ceremony of annual regional competitions “Breakthrough of the Year” and “Volunteer of the Year” took place in Saratov Region Administration building on February, 19. SSU representatives G. Bolotov, I. Kushkova and A. Trunova won these competitions in different nominations.

On behalf of Saratov Region Governor, M.V. Goremyko, Deputy Chair of the regional government welcomed the guests. “Obviously, we have the best young people in this room today. The number of volunteer initiatives grows every year. Today it includes patriotic work, healthy lifestyle promotion, donorship, ecological education, and genuine heroic deeds”, said M.V. Goremyko. “Your active participation in the competitions proves that young people today find application to their ideas and talents in different areas of life”.

Among the participants were school and university students, representatives of regional youth organizations who made a significant contribution to the development of Saratov Region.

SSU faculty of Law students, Chair of the Youth Government of the region, member of the Alyona Trunova won “Breakthrough in Public Work” nomination. In 2015 she lead 15 socially important projects, represented Saratov Region at the VII All-Russia meeting of Youth Governments, at the Volga Federal District Youth Council meeting, won new social project and got three million rubles funding to implement it.

Chair of SSU Student and Graduate Students Council, Faculty of Sociology graduate student, commissary of Saratov branch of Russian Students Team Organization Georgy Bolotov won “The Most Patriotic Breakthrough of the Year” nomination. In May 2015, he won the competition of the All-Russia Volunteer Corpus of the 70th Anniversary of the Great Victory and participated in the parade in Sevastopol; he was awarded the title of Ambassador of the All-Russia Volunteer Corpus of the 70th Anniversary of the Great Victory. In September, Georgy Bolotov was awarded medals and certificates from the RF President V.V. Putin for organizing 27th World Summer Universiade 2013 in Kazan and 22nd Olympic Game and Paralympics 2014 in Sochi.

Georgy Bolotov received an award for winning regional competition “Volunteer of the Year». Last year he managed to implement dozens of charity, ecological and patriotic campaigns in the region. He is the initiator of federal projects like “ART Quadrate” and “New Faces”. In June 2015 he was a member of volunteer team at the World Aquatics Championships in Kazan.

SSU Institute of Philology and Journalism student, member of Saratov youth organization “Sinegoria” Irina Kushkova won the third place. She carried out social research project “XXI Century Heritage” and “New Generation” program and developed new game program for participants of Volunteer Winter School “Danko”.

The winners say competitions like that support young people who try their best to develop their city, region and country. On behalf of the participants Georgy Bolotov thanked Saratov Region Government and Ministry for Youth Policy, Sport and Tourism for the opportunity to carry out this work and develop youth movement.
