Saratov State University hosted the award ceremony of the pedagogical excellence competition “Entering the Profession” that concluded III Week of Teachers’ Education.

This was the 11th year the University holds this competition, and this time it was made special by the number of participants from different cities (Glazov, Chelyabinsk, Гаф) and the event’s format. Closing ceremony was unforgettable.

Theatrical performance “Childhood Empire” prepared by Institute of History and International Relations and Institute of Sports and Physical Training students made the guests think about responsibility and dedication, confidence and determination, honesty and fairness – the qualities a teacher should have.

The theatrical performance was based on a real story. We know about people, teachers among them, who started their career during war time and stayed true to their vocation. One of them was a Polish teacher, Warsaw orphanage director Janusz Korczak.

The students drew attention to the most important question of teacher’s responsibility to their students. Janusz Korczak’s example highlighted the idea that teaching is a vocation that sometimes requires being a hero.

The award ceremony went on this high note. All 20 participants - future teachers from Saratov State University, Glazov State Pedagogical Institute, Chelyabinsk State Pedagogical University and Bashkir State Pedagogical University – got special awards and prizes.

This year, the winner is Oleg Yankovski (Institute of Philology and Journalism). The second place went to Irina Kalashnikova (Institute of Chemistry), Julia Rebrina (Balashov Institute) won the third prize.
