On March 1, SSU hold traditional ski race “University Snowflake – 2015” at the SSU ski resort. The annual competition is supported by SSU Institute of Sports and Physical Training, Office of Student Educational Work, Office of Social Work, Sport Club and Student Club. The ski race finished the “Health Spartakiade” between SSU structural units. 18 student teams and about 30 faculty members participated in the event.
Every year the number of participants grows. Saratov State University pays a lot of attention to promoting healthy life style, developing sports and advertizing mass sporting events.
This year, the competition program included: teachers mass start (men and women) and student relay (men and women) for 1200m.
Main judge, Chair of the Department of Sport Disciplines Mishagin, V.N. welcomed the sportsmen. Then Vice-rector for secondary professional education and social work Nesterova, O.E. addressed the participants noticing the warm and friendly atmosphere of the event and wishing everyone a happy start. Head of the Office of Student Educational Work Golovchenko, A.V. stressed the fact that at Saratov State University, skiing unites students and teachers. He added that promoting mass sport is one of the priority tasks for the University.
University teachers started first, student relay started half an hour later. The ski run included a seemingly small rise that took some effort and time to climb.
Faculty of Nano- and Biomedical technologies team of A. Kliukin, A. Usachev, D. Smoliakov and D. Petrov won the men student relay; teams of Faculty of Mathematics and Mechanics and Faculty of Physics came second and third correspondingly.
Faculty of Geography team (E. Lisman, Yu. Lisman, E. Kochetkova, E. Kurchernkova) won student relay among women; Faculty of Economics and Institute of Chemistry teams came second and third.
Among men teachers, the first place went to Institute of Chemistry Professor Shtykov, S.N. Department of Computer Security and Cryptography Theory assistant Bondarev, N.N. was second, Department of Radoiphysics and Nonlinear Dynamics Professor Postnov, D.E. came third.
Among women teachers, Department of Geophysics Associate Professor Sokulina, K.B. won the start. Department of General Physics leading engineer L. Lokhanskaia came second; “Tailored Material” lab member Alekseenko, S.S. got the third place.
According to SSU Student Club, over 100 people took part in the ski competition this year.
