Saratov State University opens XVI World Swimming Championships recruiting center.
The new structural unit is based at SSU Volunteer Center. SSU Rector A.N. Chumachenko and the Minister for Youth Policy, Sports and Tourism N.B. Brilenok, the Ministry representatives, University staff and volunteers took part in the opening ceremony.
Olga Iliasova opened the ceremony and sang the Olympiad-80 Hymn creating the holiday mood.
A.N. Chumachenko welcomed the guests. He noticed our youth leads a very busy life: “Every time I talk to our students I realize there happen the most interesting, most wonderful things. University years are the best time; and the best students are in the Saratov State University!”, said he. He also thanked the Ministry for choosing SSU as the platform for volunteer training.
Minister for Youth Policy, Sports and Tourism N.B. Brilenok said Saratov State University has proved its right to host such campaigns. “University volunteers showed their best at Kazan Universiade. Our region pays great attention to volunteer movement development; Saratov State University leads the way in volunteer training. Therefore, SSU has been chosen as the platform of Saratov volunteers’ meeting in January next year”, said the Minister.
Maria Shmygina, Faculty of Mathematics and Mechanics, “The 70th Victory Anniversary” volunteer project coordinator, was awarded a certificate for her active volunteer work. Maria thanked the Ministry for Youth Policy, Sports and Tourism for their support of SSU initiatives and invited volunteers to participate in jubilee events.
Undergraduate and graduate student council Chair Georgy Bolotov who hosted the ceremony reminded the guests that they could register as volunteers at ru.kazan2015.com.
