The Students Admission Ceremony, that took place at Locomotive Stadium on 1 October, gathered first-year students, Saratov Region universities rectors and school directors and other honored guests.

The event opened with the sounds of fanfare and drums. Saratov students’ team marched at the stadium playing drums and carrying flags and ribbons. They streamed Saratov Region coat of arms.

Saratov Region Governor V.V. Radaev congratulated the new students. “We believe in you! You knowledge is the region’s success! You patriotism is Saratov’s future! Your victories is Russia’s glory!”, said the governor.

The first GTO (Ready to Work and Defense) contest was part of the Ceremony. It started before the main event. During the day Saratov students competed in several sport disciplines: running (100 meters), long jump, press-up, crunches, leans, running for 2km (girls) and 3 km (boys). Later in the evening the guests watched tug-of-war contest and relay race 4х100. Saratov State University won the competition.

The Ceremony continued with Saratov Region universities parade. Then the best students of the region raised the Russian Federation flag. Among them was SSU student Azalia Gazeeva, the regional leader of All-Russia project “Run with me”. After that, the Flame of Knowledge started at the huge cauldron similar to the Olympic one. SSU was represented by Egor Sokolov, graduate student, deputy head of All-Russia project “ART-Kvadrat”.

Next the universities presented their artistic programs. SSU program consisted of three parts. First, the participants created the world map using colorful sheets. Red ribbons formed the University name. The second part was international. It showed the sun and its rays that were represented by international students wearing their traditional dress. Finally, the presenters organized “Time movement” flash mob. Saratov State University is one of the leading Russian universities that keeps traditions and helps to develop the world with its innovations.

The Ceremony finished with a beautiful fireworks show.
