Anton Golovchenko and Svetlana Strygina – 2023 Lawyer of the Year Saratov Law Award Winners
On December 22, there was held the 2023 Lawyer of the Year Saratov Law awarding ceremony.
Vice-Rector for Youth Policy and Organisational Work, Associate Professor of the Department of Political Sciences Anton Golovchenko became the winner in the Legal Education nomination. Associate Professor of the Department of State and Law Theory Svetlana Strygina won in the For Contribution to Law Science nomination.
Anton Golovchenko has been working at Saratov University since 2008. His research interests include political science and party building. Since 2011, Anton Golovchenko has been Head of the Office for Organisational Work with Students. In 2018, he was appointed the vice-rector.
In 2019, Anton Golovchenko became one of the federal experts of the All-Russian competition of youth projects of the Rosmolodezh Federal Agency for Youth Affairs. He takes part in the Saratov Public Chamber, in 2018 he became Chair of the Commission on Social Policy.
Since July 2021, Anton Golovchenko has been a member of the Public Council for Youth Policy under the Regional Youth Policy Committee. He holds the post of Chair of the Board of the Saratov regional branch of the Russian Student Brigades.
At the end of this year, according to the monitoring results of the Ministry of Higher Education and Science of Russia, SSU entered the top-10 best universities for the implementation of youth policy and academic affair.
‘It is significant that Saratov State University has been awarded such a prestigious award in the Year of Teachers and Mentors. This award testifies to the responsible attitude of all my colleagues, with whom we have been doing a lot of work on educational activities and youth policy throughout the year. Our efforts are primarily aimed at developing the creative and intellectual potential of students and schoolchildren – future applicants. I especially want to thank the close-knit team of Saratov State University, without which it would be impossible to implement all our plans,’ Anton Golovchenko marked.
After graduating from the D.I. Kursky Law Institute, Svetlana Strygina worked in legal positions in investigative bodies from 1973 to 1985, and also worked as a lawyer. In 1989, she entered the full-time graduate school of SSU, successfully defended her dissertation for the degree of Candidate of Philosophy. Since 2006, Svetlana Strygina has been working at the Faculty of Law, SSU, at the Department of State and Law Theory. In 2016, she received a certificate of honour from the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation for many years of fruitful work on the development and improvement of education and a significant contribution to the training of highly qualified specialists.
Svetlana Strygina's research interests are human rights and the philosophy of law. She has participated in the writing of more than 160 scientific papers, including monographs. This year, Svetlana Strygina became one of the authors of the Fundamentals of Law and Anti-Corruption Measures textbook, before that – the Law textbook.
‘My legal experience is more than 13 years. At the faculty, I involve students in active scientific work, and in the classes of the scientific student circle, I try to convey to them everything that was useful to me in the legal profession. As a result, many of them, graduating from SSU, remain in science. Every year, about 10 students, under my guidance, go to international legal conferences throughout the country, make presentations on topical topics and, as a rule, take first places,’ Svetlana Strygina noted.
Dean of the Faculty of Law Galina Komkova was present at the solemn event as an honourary guest. Before the award ceremony, the results of the work of the Saratov regional branch of the Association of Lawyers of Russia for 2023 were summarized.
