On Saturday, September 26, the NAUKA 0+ festival was held at the Saratov University and the Institute of Biochemistry and Physiology of Plants and Microorganisms of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The event, which has become traditional, was attended this year by students of Boarding School No. 64 (Pre-University).

Within the framework of the agreement between Saratov University and the Lyceum, a lot of joint work has already begun. The University oversees the direction of "Programming" at the Lyceum. Regular lessons will be conducted, group and other extracurricular activities will be organized. Schoolchildren will attend classes at the Olympiad Programming Center, seminars for teachers are planned, joint discussion of educational programs and curricula. In addition to the teachers of the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, philologists and biologists are currently involved in reading special courses, and then employees and teachers of the entire university will take part in this work.

The main part of the program was held in the classrooms of the I, III, IX and XI buildings of SSU. In them, famous scientists and young employees of university research centers and laboratories conducted classes for 8th and 10th grade students. Each group of schoolchildren took part in three 45-minute bars devoted to different scientific topics. In total, the university has prepared 30 sites.

One of the platforms for popular science lectures was the Institute of Chemistry. Here, a tour of the laboratory of the Department of Polymers was organized for schoolchildren, as well as chemical experiments were demonstrated. In addition, students of the 8th grade visited the spectral laboratory of the Institute.

"At the Institute of Chemistry, we were told a lot of things that we didn't know. There they showed us lasers, told us that they exist in three aggregate states. We even fired them," the 8th grade students shared their impressions.

"Today we learned about what thermal radiation is used for. It was very interesting. At the lecture, we were shown virtual models of human organs: we looked at the heart and talked about how to control its rhythm. The review of organs interested me most of all, because in the future I want to become a doctor," a 10th grade student added to the comment of schoolchildren.

Lecturers of the FNBMT, physical and geographical faculties worked at the sites in the III building. For students of the 8th grade, physical phenomena were demonstrated in practice, as well as the developments of the university staff were presented. In addition to the main events at the Faculty of Physics, an excursion to the Museum of Physical Devices and lecture demonstrations for 10th grade students took place. The presenter showed the students experiments on light, optical, electrical and mechanical equipment. The students became not only observers, but also participants in experiments.

"The tour was more interesting than in ordinary museums. They put us on a stool and turned a wheel under it. Because of this rotation, a gyroscopic effect was obtained. It's very exciting to understand physics," said the students of the 10th grade.

Lecturers of the Faculty of Nano- and Biomedical Technologies told students of the 8th grade about the role of microwave, micro and nanoelectronics in people's lives. Then the guests of the festival were taken to the laboratory of quantum electronics. The speakers told the tenth graders about the achievements of the university in the field of biomedical technologies.

Geographers organized an exhibition of creative works of schoolchildren on the same site. For the 8th grade, volunteers of the Faculty of Geography conducted an interactive lesson "Visiting the meteorological observatory".

In the lobby on the second floor of the III building, you could see the work of a 3-D printer. The guests of the festival were presented with products marked NAUKA 0+ or engraved with their own name, made using this technique.

In the IX building, representatives of the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, as well as biological and Mechanical-Mathematical faculties shared their knowledge with visitors. For 8th and 10th grade students, biologists gave a lecture on virtual anatomy and physiology. At the mehmat, students learned about the "color space". The guys remembered the excursion to the Interdisciplinary Institute of Nanostructures and Biosystems.

Under the guidance of the teachers of the Faculty of KNiIT, the students took part in the CLICK game, which took place in the quiz format. High school students answered questions from the field of modern technology, and received prize points for correct answers.

In the XI building, on the territory of the Institute of History and International Relations, interactive classes and games "Diplomat to himself" and "Worlds and Myths of Soviet History" were also held for young scientists. Representatives of the Faculty of Philosophy gave the students a lecture "Socio-cultural meanings of ancient Greek antiquity". In addition, a workshop of a practicing psychologist was organized on the site by psychologists, and philologists and teachers of the Faculty of Foreign Languages and Linguodidactics held a master class "How to find your way to foreign languages" and popular science lectures on the topics: "Linguistics and computer", "Talking names of characters in Harry Potter books as an example of linguistic games".

As part of the negotiation tournament from the Discussion Club of the AIIMO "Diplomat to Himself", cases were played in three rounds. The theme of the first round was "The Tilsit World". In it, schoolchildren tried on the roles of Alexander I and Napoleon Bonaparte. In the second round, the students were offered the topic "The beginning of the school year", in which they had to play the roles of father and son. The reason for the negotiations in the third round was the Yalta Conference.

At the lecture "Socio-cultural meanings of Ancient Greek antiquity", organized by the Faculty of Philosophy, teenagers tried to find differences between the cultures of Ancient Greece and the Ancient East. At the workshop of a practicing psychologist, the festival guests got acquainted with the eyetracking technology, which allows them to determine the coordinates of the gaze. The ability to track the points where a person's attention most often stops opens up new opportunities for creating an attractive design, as well as eye-catching photos and easy-to-read texts.

"The Science Festival is of great importance for the education and upbringing of children. Today, the students learned a lot of interesting things from the point of view of physics, geography, and nanotechnology. I saw how much interest all this aroused in our guys. This gave me the opportunity to make sure that they had chosen the right direction of study – "biotechnology". The children took part in practical classes, received emotions and motivation for action. They are already eager to participate in scientific research projects on a par with students. Thanks to the organizers for the meeting. We are impressed. We will continue to participate and win," said the class teacher of the 8th grade, geography teacher Zhanslu Zaikunovna Amirova.
