All-Russia conference with international participation “People with Disabilities Rehabilitation System: Scientific Approach and Practical Realization” took place at the Faculty of Pedagogical and Special Needs Education on May 27 and 28 as part of the cooperation agreement between Saratov State University and the Center for rehabilitation and learning of people with disabilities.
The conference goal is to discuss theory and methodology questions and practical issues of rehabilitation for the disabled people and making decisions on topical rehabilitation issues by discussing them with specialists in education, health care and social welfare. The conference aims at improving rehabilitation service quality and successfully socializing and integrating people with disabilities into society.
More than 240 people applied to the conference including scientists from Germany, Austria, and Belarus. Scientists from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Chelyabinsk, Irkutsk, Saransk participated at the meeting. Saratov was represented by 182 people, Saratov region by 17 people from Engels, Volsk, Balakovo, Shikhany. Among the participants are 122 university teachers, 58 students and master students, 55 practicing specialists including 29 education workers, 14 healthcare workers and 9 social welfare specialists.
At the opening ceremony, Vice-rector for secondary professional education and social work O.E. Nesterova and Faculty of Pedagogical and Special Needs Education Deputy Dean N.V. Saiapin welcomed the guests.
At the plenary session, the guests heard a report on topical issues of psychological rehabilitation for people with developmental disorders by the Department of Special Needs Psychology Chair L.V. Shipova. Director of the Center for rehabilitation and learning of people with disabilities E.S. Piatkina talked about realization of the complex approach towards people with disabilities rehabilitation. Department of Special Needs Education Chair Yu.V. Selivanova and Student inclusive education and social adaptation center Head S.Yu. Kuznetsova presented different aspects of university learning for students with disabilities. Professor of the Department of Technology Education V.N. Saiapin and Institute of Arts Director I.E. Rakhimbaeva talked about creative self-realization for the disabled.
The conference worked at nine sections where the participants discussed theoretical and methodological issues of rehabilitation, problems of psychological and medical rehabilitation, special education resources, speech competency as a rehabilitation factor for people with disabilities, professional training issues, family life, using art and sport for rehabilitation.
