SSU students were successful at the second regional tournament of All-Russia Student Mathematics Olympiad that took place in Ufa State Aviation Technical University on October 27-29.
Teams from Penza State University, Samara State Technical University, Bashkir State University and other Ufa technical universities took part in the tournament.
Our university was represented by two mathematics teams from the Faculty of Mathematics and Mechanics and two people team of engineers from the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technologies.
At the beginning the participants were divided into teams of two. They had to solve six tasks in three and a half hours. They were working individually; the score was given for teams and individuals.
2-year student of the SSU Faculty of Mathematics and Mechanics Maria Kuznetsova won the first place. 4-year student of the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technologies Ilya Los came second in total score and first among engineer students. 5-year student of the Faculty of Mathematics and Mechanics Tatiana Gorbunova was second, Vitali Gridnev and Farkhad Osmanov were third among mathematics students. 2-year student of the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technologies Danil Sagunov took the second place in engineering. This way SSU teams took the first and second places in Mathematics and first place in Engineering. Saratov students brought home 14 awards.
SSU students will take part in All-Russia Mathematics Olympiad finals in Ufa State Aviation Technical University in April 2015.
Team’s coach is Associate Professor of the Department of Mathematical Physics and Numerical Analysis N.P. Bondarenko. Olympiad participants regularly attend her mathematics club. Additional information about the club can be found at course.sgu.ru. Also most team members are involved with Programmers Olympiad Training Center named after N.L. Andreeva and take part in different programming contests.
