On National Flag Day, Students of Saratov Universities Organised Patriotic Event
Today, on the National Flag Day of Russia, a patriotic flash mob was held at the university campus. The celebration was attended by students of SSU, SSTU, and PIM named after P.A. Stolypin.
It began with a line-up: the activists carried the flags of their universities across the square. A student of the Institute of Physics Artyom Smalyuga hoisted the national flag to the Russian anthem. Then, the activists lined up in the letter Z, holding in their hands the main symbol of the holiday – the Russian flag. Alexander Vaitsul, a student of the Faculty of Sociology, set a special mood of the day by singing the I Am Russian soulful song.
‘Such events are very important, especially when the initiators are the students themselves. The representatives of various universities have been here today – and this is valuable. They lined up in a symbolic letter Z to support the fighters who are now at the front. I am glad that young people understand the importance of such events,’ Vice-Rector for Youth Policy and Organisational Work, SSU, Anton Golovchenko.
Vladislav Bykov, Chair of the SSU Council of Undergraduate and Postgraduates, a student of the Faculty of Sociology, commented why he supported the event. ‘This day is important for every citizen of our country. I am glad that students of Saratov universities showed solidarity to celebrate this holiday. The flag is the main symbol of our country, our unity, and we should be proud of it.’
On National Flag Day, celebrations are traditionally held in all regions of the country. The event was organised with the participation of the Ministry of Domestic Policy and Public Relations of Saratov Region.
