Dear veterans,

dear countrymen!

I congratulate you on Victory Day!

This is a significant and exciting holiday for every citizen of our country. It was, is, and will be the highest example of patriotism and loyalty to duty.

The victory was forged by the entire Soviet peoples. Since the first days of the Great Patriotic War, hundreds of outstanding scientists went to the front, including a philosopher Anatolii Butenko, a historian Vyacheslav Dashichev, an economist Evgenii Kapustin, an archaeologist Pavel Shultz, and many, many others.

In the active army and in the people's militia, teaching staff and students of Soviet universities fought against the enemy. Many of them stayed forever on the fields of the Great Patriotic War.

Scientists from all over our country worked in the rear, including a microbiologist Zinaida Yermolyeva, a chemist and metal scientist Andrei Bochvar, physicists Igor Kurchatov and Anatolii Alexandrov, and a mathematician Mstislav Keldysh.

The Soviet atomic project was implemented in the most difficult conditions. The selfless work of scientists made it possible to achieve nuclear parity almost immediately after the end of the war, to ensure state sovereignty.

The current generation of scientists faces a similar task – to ensure the technological independence of Russia.

To this end, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education is taking measures to accelerate the training of engineering and technical personnel, make young scientists conduct research, and improve the national system of higher education.

Dear friends! The events taking place demonstrate with the utmost clarity how important it is to know the history of your country.

Modern warfare is waged not only on the battlefield, but also in the minds of people. They seek to deprive us of historical memory, leave us without our ancestry, and destroy the foundation of the nation. And therefore, it is more important than ever to continue historical research and popularise high-quality historical knowledge.

It is necessary for each of us to remember how hard the Victory was given, to honour the great feats of our multinational people.

Our duty to the memory of the heroes is to live and work for the benefit of our great Motherland, which they have preserved for us.

We bow down and express heartfelt gratitude to our veterans and home front-workers.

Happy holidays! Happy Victory Day!
