Summary of the Chapter activities

1. Conferences information:

The Chapter participated in technical co-sponsorship of 3 conferences:

1) VIII conference for young scientists “Nanoelectronics, Nanophotonics and Nonlinear Physics”, September 3–5, 2013. The conference was hosted by Saratov Branch of the Institute of Radio Engineering and Electronics, Russian Academy of Science (IRE RAS) with technical and financial co-sponsorship of Saratov IEEE Chapter.

4 IEEE members: Prof. B.D. Zaitzev, Prof. N.M. Ushakov, Prof. D.I. Trubetskov, and Prof. S.P. Kuznetsov served as members of the Program Committee. IEEE Members S.P. Kuznetsov and E.N. Beginin served as Plenary Lecturers.
IEEE Member Dr. Evgeniy P. Seleznev chaired the Local Technical Committee.
Conference program included 8 Plenary Lectures presented by invited speakers, 65 talks and 72 posters presented by young scientists and students. The presentations were divided in 7 sessions: “Optics and nanophotonics”, “Opto-, acousto- and magnetoelectronics”, “Micro and nanoelectronics”, “Material science, micro and nanostructures”, “Magnonic, phononic, photonic crystals and metamaterials”, “Nonlinear physics”.
Over 100 participants from many Russian universities and research institutions attended the conference.
The book of abstracts was published and distributed at the conference.

2) 10-th International School “Chaotic Oscillations and Pattern Formation”, October 7-12, 2013, Saratov.

IEEE members participated actively in the organization of the conference. Prof. D.I. Trubetskov served as Conference Chair and Chair of the Local Organizing Committee. Prof. Yu. I. Levin served as the Vice-chair of the Local Organizing Committee; Prof. Yu. P. Sharaevsky was a member of the Local Organizing Committee; Prof. S.P. Kuznetsov was a member of the Program Committee.
Over 120 participants presented 27 Plenary Lectures, more than 50 talks, and more than 50 posters.

Special issue of the Russian journal “Applied Nonlinear Dynamics” with selected conference papers will be published in the beginning of 2014.

3) School “Nonlinear Days in Saratov” for young scientists, postgraduate, undergraduate and pre-college students, November 14–15, 2013. Such schools have been organized each year since 1998 by Saratov State University (SSU) with technical and financial co-sponsorship of Saratov IEEE Chapter.

Chairman: Prof. Dmitry I. Trubetskov (IEEE member). Prof. N.M. Ryskin was responsible for Technical Program.
14 talks and 23 posters were presented by undergraduate and postgraduate students.
The volume of conference full-text papers will be published in early 2014.

2. Chapter Workshop information:

1) On May 17, 2013 the biannual Chapter Workshop “Electromagnetics of Microwaves, Terahertz and Optical Waves” was hold in Saratov State Technical University. Such workshops have been organized once a year since 1995. Since 2011 the Chapter decided to organize the workshop twice a year. At the beginning of the Workshop, the activity report was presented by Chapter Chair Prof. N.M. Ryskin. After the workshop, a reception for IEEE members and guests was hold.

2) On September 27, 2013 second part of the biannual Workshop “Electromagnetics of Microwaves, Terahertz and Optical Waves” was organized in Saratov State University.

At the beginning of the Workshop, 2013 Chapter activity report was presented by the Chapter Chair, Prof. N.M. Ryskin.
