Professor of the Department of the Russian Language, Speech Communication and Russian as a Foreign Language, Doctor of Philology of SSU Olga Sirotinina has received a letter of appreciation from the Russian President of Russia Vladimir Putin for her achievements in research and pedagogy. The corresponding order was published on the federal portal of legal information.

Olga Sirotinina is a linguist with a worldwide reputation, Honored Professor of SSU, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation.

Olga Sirotinina is known as the creator and head of the Saratov school for the study of the functioning of the Russian language in modern society, recognized in Russia and abroad. The professor's research interests include dialectology, syntax, colloquial speech, text problems, functional and stylistic differentiation, speech culture, the language of mass media, changes in language and speech.

Under the leadership of Olga Borisovna, 58 candidate's and 17 doctoral dissertations were defended. She has devoted almost 80 years to work at Saratov University. Until now, O.B. Sirotinina gives a huge amount of advice to young colleagues.

The example of creative longevity of O.B. Sirotinina inspires numerous students and colleagues, candidates and doctors of sciences working at universities in Saratov, Yakutia, Kalmykia, Irkutsk, Volgograd, Astrakhan and other cities of Russia.

This year, an expanded edition of O.B. Sirotinina's book "Life in Spite of, or I am a happy person" was published.

The author shares with readers memories of his childhood, university studies, war, Leningraders and love, educational activities, dialectological expeditions and the path to linguistics, talks about the Saratov Linguistic School and his native department, about the work of the head councils and not only about them. You can find the book here.
