1 International School “Nanostructured materials” (chair – Professor of the Department of Semiconductor Physics Gorin, Dmitrii Aleksandrovich) and 6th International conference “Nanoparticles, nanostructured coating and microcontainers: technologies, characteristics, application” (chair – Professor, Dean of the Faculty of Nano- and Biomedical technologies Venig, Sergei Borisovich) finished at SSU.
The conference took place from May, 18 to May, 24. the forum opened with address by Vice-rector for research work A.V. Stalmakhov.
Scientific educational school organized over 20 lectures-workshops in nanophase materials science by famous scientists for students, graduate students, research fellows, engineers, and teachers.
The Conference commission chose 3 best oral presentations and 4 best poster works. According to the organizers, it was very important that this commission was external and included eight professors from foreign participating universities.
One of the main conference requirements was presentation in English. The organizers believe it motivates young researchers to broaden their horizons and improve their language skills. This year, the school and conference were supported by the Russian Foundation for Basic Research, companies “Spectronika”, Nikon Instruments Europe B.V.|Russia, OJSC “Inject”, Renishaw, SOL instruments и грантом Marie Curie project (PIRSES-GA-2013-612673).
Conference participants also enjoyed rich entertainment program. They visited the Sobinov Festival opening, the Victory Park, Natural History museum and played sports.
The conference “Nanoparticles, nanostructured coating and microcontainers: technologies, characteristics, application” was first held in 2007. As D.A. Gorin said, its participants are partners that we already work with or plan to cooperate in research and education.
This year, representatives of eleven countries participated in the conference. Russian scientists represented Saratov, Tambov, Novosibirsk, Rostov-on-Don, Ivanovo, Moscow, and Saint Petersburg. Foreign partners came from Great Britain, Germany, China, Singapore, Turkey, Belgium, Slovenia, Bulgaria, USA, Italy, and Thailand. Italian scientist M.D. Chiro Isidoro from Piemonte university took part in the conference for the first time. The guests were specialist in material studies and nanotechnologies, among them were Prof. Yalchin Elerman from Ankara University and Hans Bäumler from the Institute for Transfusion Medicine in Germany.
Conference guests and participants said these meetings help scientific exchange and promote new joint projects. For example, four young scientists completed their training in “Remote controlled theranostics systems” lab; four foreign colleagues have been doing a long-term training in Saratov this year.
This conference was held in England, Russia, Turkey, Germany, and Belgium. Next year, Tomsk Polytechnik University will host the conference; in 2017 it will take place in Italy.
