Quality management system external audit review took place at Saratov State University on May, 22.
The external audit was in progress from May, 18 to May, 22. It aimed to re-certify SSU quality management system concerning its educational work, research and testing according to the standards of GOST ГОСТ ISO 9001-2011 (ISO 9001:2008) “Quality management systems. Requirements”.
Chair of Saratov Region Chamber of Commerce and Industry certification commission A.V. Ivanov thanked University administration and staff for their help in providing complete information.
Then the chair focused on the most important aspect of auditors’ work. Hу said the University goals in quality management are fully met. The audit did not find any significant discrepancies. A.V. Ivanov gave a positive evaluation to Quality Management Center work. He highlighted the fact that university staff sees the quality management system as a tool for improving university work. SSU is at the top-20 universities in the country; it is the only university in the region included in the list of leading universities of BRICS countries. He supported gradual implementation of “1C. 8 Document Control” system for improvement of university work.
The commission particularly noted the work of the Department of Petrochemistry and Technogenic Safety. 100% of its graduates are working in their specialty area. Geological College got a positive evaluation.
As part of the criticism, the commission chair said not all structural units make a detailed analysis of their work results, document control rules are not strictly followed at some departments.
“External audit is an important tool of quality management system. The University produced a very good impression but we have to point at some minor discrepancies so you could get rid of those and make the University better”, said A.V. Ivanov.
