On May 13, SSU delegation went to the XXIII “Russian Student Spring”. This year the festival takes place in Vladivostok on May, 15-19.
The university team consists of 30 people including dancers and singers, journalists and actors who will take part in multiple competitions. SSU delegation is the biggest one among Saratov universities’ delegations this year.
In music competition, SSU is represented by a pop music group “FAnicula” with a song «Funiculí – funiculа» and Anna Maliakina with a romance “Sun”. The singers say they aim to win and get new experience. Natalia Akimova, FAnicula’s singer, says: “I want to get new experience, inspiration, new ideas and bring them home. Student Spring festival is all my life, it’s the best time and the strongest emotions”.
In dancing contest, there are three dance routines by Saratov university artists. Folk dance group “Meridian” will present their folk dance “Saratov Korochanka”, Ekaterina Khvashevaia will dance “Barynia”, Julia Troiak will show a modern dance «Buy a heart». The dancers share that the festival is a great holiday but also a great work for them.
Student theatre studio “Paribashte” will show a performance of “Childhood Empire”. The show is based on real events – the story of Janusz Korczak and his heroic deed. Scenarist Yury Muntian thinks silence in the audience is the best reaction to the performance. Yury is ready to do his best at the festival.
A clown duet of Yury Muntian and Sergey Makaida will also demonstrate their talents, as well as “Zuz” band that will perform a pantomime “Flies”.
“SGUshenka” magazine journalist Julia Akhmedova and “Russian Student Spring – 2014” prize winner Denis Ladonkin will take part in journalist competition. Denis hopes to win: “I’ve learnt a lot at Mediaspring forum this year; I believe my chances to win are quite high”.
The festival opens on May 15 at the Far Eastern Federal University campus and works on 8 locations. For the first time at the festival’s history it will take place on a sea coast, on an island.
“Russian Student Spring” is one of the biggest youth festivals; it has been happening since 1992. This year, the festival will gather about 2000 contestants, 300 volunteers and 6000 spectators in Vladivostok. This is the first time the Far East region hosts such an event.
