On September 30, International Translation Day is celebrated in the world. The holiday unites the teaching staff members and the students of different SSU institutes and faculties.
At SSU, future translators take such courses as in Philology. Foreign Philology (English and German/French), Fundamental and Applied Linguistics, and others, as part of the additional course in Translators in Professional Communication.
Since 2011, Translation Agency No. 1 has been working at the university, which is headed by Associate Professor of the Department of Romance and Germanic Languages and Translation Alina Bolshakova.
In an interview Translation Unites, she told us about the peculiarities of her profession, how to get an additional translator qualification, where to start if you want to connect your life with foreign languages, and whether artificial intelligence will be able to replace a person.
Alina Bolshakova connected her life with foreign languages. Having graduated from the Faculty of Philology, SSU, she has extensive experience working abroad, teaches students English and translation, and does simultaneous interpretation of important events of the country and the region.
